Meet-the-artists Reception October 9, 2010

6:55--We're ready.  Me, my brother Bob, my sister-in-law Mary
Margie and Terry McHose (sculptor)

Food and Wine
Carolyn and one of her arrangements

People showed up.

Some of us played.

My across-the-street neighbor, Larry, thinks his house should have been included in this painting.  Is it under the mat?
The bouncer kept everything in check.  (Watcher Woman is standing in the front yard of his childhood home.)

Thanks to everyone who came out and made this a great evening--even the weather was perfect.  My brother Bob and my sister-in-law Mary (former owners of a gallery in Pasadena) brought a bit of California to SOVA--a great combination. Yall should have been here.

  1. Hallie- These are phenomenal photos! Carolyn did a great job with the flower arrangements and it looks like everyone had a fabulous time. You look lovely in your colorful outfit. Your brother and sister-in-law look like such nice, caring folks.
I wish I could have been there to see all of your beautiful art and Terry's sculptures-- and hang out with everyone.

  3. Thanks Pam. My colorful outfit--it was 80+ degrees when I got dressed so I had to ditch my usual black. Well, I kept the lower half--black linen slacks w/pockets. I think I surprised people by wearing a color other than denim or black. You would have enjoyed it. Several people brought cameras and emailed or dropped off photos.

Hi Indogomar. You're right, I enjoy reading about openings and seeing photos, too. You've had some great ones.

  6. Congratulations, Hallie, on a great show. The work looks great, the crowd looks into the work, and you have a great smile on your face. That is the perfect recipe for a perfect night. I wish I could have been there to enjoy it with you - and throw back a couple shots...

  17. Hi, I saw your comment on Kathy Cartwright's blog. Coincidentally, I'm having a show at ARTSPACE in Richmond, VA., opening on Oct.22. If you're anywhere close, I'd love for you to come. I'll be checking your blog often for news about the arts in Virginia!

  18. Hi Sharmon. Congratulations on the show. I live about 100 miles west of Richmond; 70 miles north of Raleigh. I live smack-dab in the middle of beautiful hunting/fishing/farming country so I won't have a lot of news about the arts in Virginia. We are trying, though--we have quite a few artists in this area. If I'm in Richmond (and it's been many years since I've visited) I'll look for Artspace. I will mention it to my friends who live there. (I'm pretty much a stay-at-home-&-work-in-the-studio person.) I hope it's a great show.

  19. Wowee! And there's my favorite - binocular woman! Glad it was a success, although I don't see how it could be anything else with such wonderful artworks on display!

  20. Thank you, MM. I can imagine you as binocular woman--you're keeping watch on the other side of the world.
