Conched out on my pillow, graphiteA 200-minute sketch
I follow the exceptional blog of Katharine A. Cartwright, a wonderful artist who is unbelievably organized. A recent entry explained her "twenty minute challenge"--in twenty minutes, she paints her surroundings. Among other things, these small paintings have provided a record of her travels when she's teaching. Many of her readers found the concept interesting so she has set up a "Twenty Minute Challenge" blog. Since I've always drawn my environment (and there's no requirement to work daily, to travel, or to venture outside), I may join. Stopping after twenty minutes will be my challenge. ReplyDeleteDon, glad you like the sketch within a sketch. I finished the shell and said, "Whoa, there's a lot of white space at the bottom."

Wow, this is so cool. I like the idea of a 20 minute challenge. Given my mediums, I'm not sure I could rise to this as you have done so well. Cool!
ReplyDeleteKathy, sorry for misleading you. This sketch probably required about 200 minutes. I haven't tried the 20 minute challenge yet. (I added the words "a 200 minute sketch" uder the photo. I've never been fast at anything.
