  1. That is what I told my wife! Happy mother's day! Great illustration of the tough job that is a mother's, like lifting weights. Beautiful flower too!

    1. Thanks Dan. I drew this several years ago when my small art group met at our old YMCA. I "borrowed" the flower from out front; then grabbed a weight to prop it up. I was looking through old files today and thought it was good for Mother's Day. My kids have long been on their own but I remember long days and long nights; I also remember having fun with them.

  3. Happy Mother's Day! Yes, the flower is great next to a weight. Many meanings could be applied!

    1. Thank you Celeste. Those weights at the old Y came in handy, and they had character.

    1. Hi CrimsonLeaves. It is on a textured drawing paper. I believe I got tired of using pencil and went with a china marker to darken the background.

    1. Thanks Jane. I don't think I ever finished this (and there were no small kids around to blame).

  6. It seems taking a break is a specialty of mine lately. I hope you had a great Mother's Day ( a little late checking in on this).

  7. Hi Margaret. I excel at taking breaks--except for today; I sawed up a fallen tree branch and dragged to to the curb. Actually I just wanted to try my cool little "bear saw"--bought it five years ago and had never used it. Now my back hurts--break time.
