While waiting for the clothes dryer to beep, I practiced using my stylus on the iPad. I sat on my Hans Wegner chair at the dining table and drew my Siesta chair from the 70s (an agility test in my living room). My iPad beeped--there was an email from my brother about a "Modernism" auction in Charlottesville VA on Saturday. Perfect timing. This was my response, the modern method of passing notes. Love it. I know, I know--I'm having too much fun.

Chairs from yesteryear are beautiful....I really love the "Siesta" (great name too!) Your ipad drawings are FABU!
ReplyDeleteHi Celeste. I love the chairs from the 60s and 70s--they're like sculptures.
DeleteI love the chair! Beautiful job on the wrinkles, Hallie!
ReplyDeleteHi CrimsonLeaves. The leather on the chair is really soft and pliable--it just sags into place. (Like old skin)
DeleteI have a stylus for my iPad too, but I have never used it. I feel like I am missing out on all this fun!
ReplyDeleteRobin, you need to try the stylus. When I use my finger, it's very hard to see what I'm drawing or writing.
DeleteHallie,
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with a good old La-Z Boy recliner, that is as modern as you need.
Everette
Everette, the recliner usually has an occupant. I will add that I've seen you get out of the Siesta chair--young and agile!
DeleteAwww a note from your brother! I like the way you think. We could have some laughs together. If you send me your snail mail address I'll send you a note!
ReplyDeleteCarole, I wonder if we're related. My brother and I love auctions, thrift shops, etc.--it's genetic, we think, from our dad.
DeleteI like the ipad for email notes; I can draw on the sketchpad, use the stylus for handwriting, and it makes a "whoosh" sound when I hit "send."
Hallie...... you missed the hint! Email me your snail mail addie and I'll send you a note through the post office! A real envelope and stamp!
DeleteI'm caught. I thought, "If Carole sends me a through-the-mail note, I'll have to send one back.". Oh, the pressure.
DeleteI'm glad you are having fun Hallie, love your chair..looks familiar :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Jane. This is definitely fun; finished my iPad bottle painting today. Now I can try a portrait or figure. Then I might have to get back to the kind of paint that colors your hands.
DeleteGreat chair and you are having a delightful time with the iPad. I can tell I must have one of them soon.
ReplyDeleteMary, I'm getting nothing done. Today I downloaded the app for the TED talks, and was using the drawing/paintings apps until about 2 this morning. You lead a much more active life; you need an iPad to keep track of your schedule.
Deletehave you been arting around in SOVA today?
ReplyDeletep.s. what is arting around in SOVA ?
Hi Celeste. Yes, I arted around yesterday. I drove to the next town for a haircut, took my camera in case the black angus were grazing on a green hillside against a blue sky (they weren't), visited a newly opened gallery, picked up one of my paintings from a cafe so I can exhibit it next Sunday at McCullum More Museum & Gardens, left the painting at a friend's antique shop for a few days so another friend can see it; while there, I met an interesting newcomer to town and gave her one of my cards. I came home and went out to dinner locally; then played with my iPad until around midnight. Today is Art at the Y Day. Ating around in southern VA takes a lot of time.
ReplyDeletewell that all sounds very art-y! I'm looking forward to seeing your next thing! Hope the Black Angus will be available soon...!
ReplyDeleteCeleste, the Black Angus have ESP--they stay low every time I have the camera in the car.
ReplyDeleteI'm the person with the Daisy Dog at Jeans. I'm nuts about my ipad2, also. Best thing invented next to the wheel, imac, sushi, a few other things.
ReplyDeleteHi again DownTheLaneWithDaisy. I demo'd my iPad for Jean yesterday--she needs one. It is a great toy. I just printed out an iPad painting (the Bottle)--looks good, and bought another art app yesterday.
