First iPad Scketch

Elder, iPadding

I ordered my first app--it took a while to find it on my iPad.  Who knew it was hiding on another screen other than home.  I spent two days reading about drawing/painting apps; most had comments about problems running on the New iPad.  I'll be patient, but I just had to try one so I ordered Sketchpad for 99 cents.  With a slider I can "size" my finger, then pick colors from the wheel--that's about it--no blending, no eraser, no zoom, but there is an "undo" button.  This was fun, took about 30 minutes; I've always wanted to be loose with my drawing--this is definitely loose.

    1. In the beginning it looked a bit like my husband. Then I added and the arms, widened the nose and it morphed into me (sort of). Really fun.

  5. how fun! You know you can email or print your sketches, but I always wondered how large an iPad sketch would print out without loosing resolution. will you print any of your sketches?

  6. Who knew your own finger is the loosest tool? 'Member finger-painting? No wonder we were all world-class expressionists.
Most important, it looks like your having fun! Yay!!!

    1. SamArtDog, I loved finger painting and crayons; then etch-a-sketching and shrinky-dinking with my kids. This has the same feeling--totally fun.

  7. Thanks Celeste, Peggy, Carole, CrimsonLeaves, Robin, and SamArt Dog. I do replies later--today is Art at the Y Day. (I'm taking the iPad and I'll try a different sketch app that I downloaded this morning--a free one.)

  8. Great Job Hallie! Your ipad painting looks like something I would have done trying to figure out the new blogger upgrade layout. These devices are all consuming--they will drive you crazy!

    1. Hi Linda. I've been following your plight with your blog. It's unbelievable--I'd be so upset I'd be throwing things and cussing a lost (which never helps). Good luck on recovering what belongs to you.

Now that you've started you will find it more fascinating than ever. It's going to be interesting following your iPad work.

  10. All that technical stuff can really drive you nuts, I think you illustrated that very well :-))

    1. Hi Jane. The technical stuff can drive one nuts but using a finger to draw and paint is amazing--I remember non-electric typewriters.
